A Unique Look at Life & Government in Jupiter


Jupiter U logoJupiter U is a unique opportunity for residents to learn about life and government in Jupiter. Offered each spring, this free course is provided to give residents an overview of their Town's government organization and supporting services, as well as information on the Town's history and heritage. Through tours and information sessions, participants experience and learn about the Town's departments, programs and services.

Registration for Jupiter U 2018 tours opens on Monday, January 15 at noon.

Thursday, March 1 - 9 to 11 am

Welcome Jupiter U Class of 2017! Join the Mayor, members of Town Council, and the Town Staff for updates about the Town and an overview of the Jupiter U program. A full breakfast will be provided, so come hungry!

Thursday, March 1 - 11:15 am to 12:15 pm

Learn more about Jupiter U tours from some of our tour guides and talk to some Town employees in this informal session after the breakfast. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and sign up for available tours that you are interested in.

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Tour

Friday, March 2 - 10 am to 12 pm

Participants will enjoy a guided tour through the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, visiting a variety of habitats with live native animals. You may even encounter a bald eagle, Florida panther, otter or crocodile!

Parks & Open Spaces Morning Tour

Monday, March 5 - 10 am to 12 pm

Board an air-conditioned trolley for a narrated riding tour of Jupiter's beautiful protected conservation areas -- or Open Space lands -- as well as some of Jupiter's more popular parks. Learn about why preservation of natural habitat and offering quality recreational parks are so important to Jupiter's quality of life. This year we will be adding a new stop as well as discuss open spaces that are being currently worked on. We will be walking down some trails at our stops, so please wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in.

Loxahatchee River District Wastewater Plant 2018

Tuesday, March 6 - 10 am to 12 pm

Meet at the Loxahatchee River District's wastewater treatment plant for an extensive walking tour of this remarkable facility. Learn how wastewater is managed in an environmentally-friendly way, and the LRD's commitment to reuse and conservation.

 Riverwalk and Inlet Village Tour
Tuesday, March 6 - 2 to 4 pm

Meet at the Plaza Down Under on the beautiful Jupiter Riverwalk for a walking tour of the Riverwalk's existing natural areas, and residential and shopping districts. Learn about Riverwalk sections, and plans to complete the 2.5 mile intracoastal pathway. Then, board an air conditioned coach for a riding tour of future sections of the northern end of the Riverwalk, and Inlet Village.

Jupiter Police Department Tour
Thursday, March 8 - 10 am to 12 pm

Meet the officers -- human and canine -- who protect and serve the residents of Jupiter every day. Learn how Jupiter PD uses the latest in crime prevention and law enforcement methods and technology to make sure that our neighborhoods, streets, schools and workplaces are safe and secure. Learn about the police department's work within the community, and the importance of working with residents and businesses for a safer Jupiter.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum History Tour

Friday, March 9 - 10 am to 12 pm


Get a tour and climb to the top of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum is operated by the Loxahatchee River Historical Society, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization incorporated in 1972. We opened our first Lighthouse Museum just one year later in 1973. Through a long-term lease with the U.S. Coast Guard, the Society has served as the Lighthouse Operations Manager since 1994.

DuBois Pioneer Home Tour

Monday, March 12 - 2 to 3 pm

At the DuBois Pioneer home, you will receive a guided tour courtesy of the fabulous museum docents. You'll also be able to explore the grounds including the "Midden". Originally over 600 feet long and 20 feet high, this hill is a remnant of one of the last coast shell mounds in southeast Florida. Artifacts dating back several thousand years have been discovered here. The entire park was once a thriving village where ancient Floridians lived.

Community Center Tour and Pickleball Tutorial

Tuesday, March 13 - 10 am to 12 pm

Try your hand at Pickleball! First, get a tour of the Community Center and a recreation program overview. Then enjoy a Pickleball Tutorial and open play. Please wear workout clothes and closed shoes to play Pickleball.

Loxahatchee River District Environmental River Center Tour and Program
Wednesday, March 14 - 9 to 11 am

The Loxahatchee River Center opened in August 2008 and allows visitors to explore the history of the watershed, its majestic environmental value, the impact of development, and projects underway to preserve this valuable and unique system. The River Center features beautiful aquariums that trace the Loxahatchee River from its headwaters in Palm Beach County, through the cypress dominated floodplain, to the coral reefs of the Jupiter Inlet.

Loxahatchee River District Environmental River Center Kayak Tour
Wednesday, March 14 - 11:30 am to 1 pm

The great folks at the River Center will take a small group on an exciting kayak tour of Fullerton Island. Located on the Intracoastal, just east of Sawfish Bay Park, Fullerton Island is uninhabited, Town of Jupiter Open Space. The purchase by the Town allows the property to retain its conservation zoning and prohibits future development.

Riverbend Park History Tour

Thursday, March 15 - 10 am to 12 pm

Enjoy a tour of the Loxahatchee Battlefield and learn its history.The Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park in Jupiter, Florida is the site of the last great battle of the Second Seminole War. On January 24, 1838, Major General Thomas S. Jesup, accompanied by 1500 troops, stormed the headwaters of the Loxahatchee River where he met 300 Seminoles in battle.

Scripps Research Institute Tour

Monday, March 19 - 2 to 4 pm

Located in Jupiter, adjacent to Florida Atlantic University's northern campus, Scripps Florida provides a rich intellectual environment and cutting-edge facilities for its researchers, who conduct studies at the forefront of biomedical science, drug discovery, and technology development. Enjoy a tour of the lab and a research presentation.

Tour Jupiter's state-of-the-art Nanofiltration and Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant on Central Boulevard, and learn how your drinking water reaches its award-winning quality level. Also, learn about how Jupiter exceeds water quality requirements and manages resources to run an efficient, world-class treatment plant that produces safe, clean drinking water.
